Feyza Koksal noticed she was missing something in her life after graduating from Columbia with a masters in Urban Design. She thought of her childhood days where she would spend hours immersed in crafting objects out of glass and clay, and wanted that creative outlet to be part of her life again. Mastering the art of glassblowing, Feyza put her passion and powers to work.
BEHIND THE BRAND: FEYZ

Innovation, craftsmanship and design make the backbone of FEYZ, one of the first brands we added onto our platform. “All of my pieces are hand-made and very intricate, therefore each piece is unique,” says the designer. The decorative pieces and light fixtures that make their way from Feyza’s mind to her Brooklyn workshop are sculptural wonders. Through her work at FEYZ Studio, the forms she imagines become anchors for dens in Aspen, sculptures that reinvigorate Brooklyn lofts, and pieces that brighten the day of anyone lucky enough to spot one on a dining room table.
Childhood, for Feyza, took place on the manicured cobblestone streets of Istanbul. “The quality of hand craftsmanship in Turkey is impeccable and I think it makes everything more special.” There’s a poeticism that brushes you while looking down onto the renowned French Street, and an appreciation of individuality and beauty amongst architectural wonders like Hagia Sophia and the Blue Mosque. Brilliance permeates every FEYZ piece; often, simply being in the presence of a piece as eye catching as the Cut Vase is enough to turn an entire day around.
Feyza has fashioned the foundation of a luxury brand. “FEYZ is my first baby, and it has been exactly 5 years since I started my company. I am at the point where I am evaluating everything I have done to see how I can take it to the future and grow. FEYZ is a fun, unique brand where our focus is creating really special pieces for our clients.” As a “very personal and artistic place,” FEYZ is where Feyza’s fantasies become a reality - one that customers around the world want to live in.

Inspired by the glistening waves of the sea, the hand blown Cut vases are as magnificent as they are unique. The collection was born from playing with the thickness and surface of the hot glass to create a rippling effect. Each piece creates a unique dispersion of light from the irregular 'cuts' that give the vases a malleable feel.

Getting to know Feyza as we did is learning to understand what makes a woman who is both technically and creatively brilliant tick. “A mistake can lead to wonders, and it’s a really emotional process.” It was a treat to see behind FEYZ’s masterfully constricted curtain, and we’re excited to take you there with us.
How do you find inspiration? What’s inspiring you right now?
I always get inspired from art, sculpture and jewelry. I was in Miami for Art Basel and Design Miami recently and there were so many cool new designs.
What is the theme for your next collection?
Right now, I’m obsessed with metallics in glass, and am currently working on a new vase collection with mirrorized glass. I am obsessed with vibrant colors like yellows, pinks and violets. Sunset hues…
What is the best part of your job?
The best part of the job is that I always call myself a designer, but I realize I am also a businesswoman, salesperson, publicist, packing and delivery person etc. I do everything and anything, sometimes really well, sometimes terribly, and even though it is frustrating and tiring sometimes it is also so rewarding and I have learned so much.
What is your personal aesthetic when it comes to interior design?
I love combining textures and color. I like pieces that are functional yet they are also beautiful. I like the combination of contemporary and antiques.
