THE CREATIVE WORLD OF

DESIREE CASONI

Architect, interior designer and avid art lover, Desiree Casoni’s impeccable taste is surely one to notice. She talks to us about her work, inspiration, and the way she curates the pieces that decorate her home.

“I always knew that I wanted to design and be part of the creative world,” says Desiree Casoni, founder of her design firm based in Miami. As a child, Casoni looked up to her mother, a renowned architect in the Dominican Republic. The decision to lead a creative life came easy and early. Pairing sumptuous textiles with dream-like color palettes, and curating furniture to fit architecturally astounding rooms is merely one way she uses her talents. Her photography is transportive. The world through her lens is a magical place. Her collages - beautiful and slightly unsettling - are thought provoking. Born in the Dominican Republic with Italian blood coursing through her veins, Desiree is a true artist.

When I travel I tend to purchase a piece that represents my experience in that place, therefore when I place it at home I get reminded of that wonderful experience that inspired me.

For someone who bestows such whimsy on the world, she enjoys quite simple pleasures. Her dream home is a one floor house surrounded by nature, a reminder that there is beauty in simplicity.

  1. Her concepts are eclectic, never convoluted. Her interests are varied, and tied together by a common thread of impeccable taste. “I find inspiration in everything, from pieces in my home to global designs.” She sees beauty in variety, and adores Macchia su Macchia glasses from Stories of Italy in equal measure to Las Palma dinnerware from Vito Nesta. Perhaps this is why we’re so closely drawn to Desiree and her projects. She is a curator of not only things, but ideas. A kindred spirit in every sense.
  1. " Try to add pieces that inspire you and engage you in your daily routines. It's always fun to have pieces that spark conversations! "

We caught up with Desiree shortly after she welcomed a new addition to her family, a beautiful baby girl named Chiara. There are so many remarkable lessons one can learn from mothers, artists, and entrepreneurs. When we stumble across someone who exemplifies all three… we listen.
